Travian
Intro
You’re expected to transform a humble village into a might empire by conquering others. Travian is a browser-based military strategy game that belongs to the MMORTS category. Although it was released in the year 2004, it continues to entertain millions of strategy game lovers worldwide. You’re expected to transform a humble village into a might empire by conquering others.
Backdrop
The game is set in the classical colonial era of Europe, wherein you must pick from the available three tribes and join the respective world for the entire duration of the game.
Gameplay
As mentioned earlier, you start with an undeveloped village, which is surrounded by rich resources. You’re constantly guided by a comprehensive tutorial that tells you about the basic objectives at all times. The idea is to slowly build up your resources and the village, to facilitate the presence of a small military force as well as a marketplace, enabling you to interact with the players in your neighborhood. You can trade with these players, plunder their resources, or make alliances to become a part of a bigger syndicate.
Forming alliances may help you in gaining protection when faced with brutal PvP combats, apart from providing you with access to more players you can trade with. The game slowly cycles through different eras, with the Wonders of the World being the endgame, and the final ranking.
Graphics
The game has fairly neat 2-D graphics that although look aged, are overshadowed by the easy to navigate and clean user interface. Of late, the game’s graphics have been reworked and appear more contemporary.
Conclusion
Travian is an extremely popular strategy game which although has aged a bit, continues to grow in popularity among the players everywhere. Despite the fact that new players may find its old interface slightly difficult to adjust, the sense of purpose provided by the game, in the form of an actual and winnable experience, may keep them hooked.
